Description
Isle of Jura Turas-Mara is a wonderful single malt, which is produced on the island of the same name. The Gaelic nickname Turas-Mara in this Isle of Jura single malt whisky means “long journey”, which is due to the inhabitants of the Highlands and Jura Island in the 18th and 19th centuries who emigrated in large numbers to North America and Canada.
History
In the 18th and 19th centuries many inhabitants left the Highlands and Isle of Jura to search for fertile pastures in distant lands. One of the Diurachs (Gaelic name for the inhabitants of Jura) was Jessie Scott. She wrote a poem about the pain of leaving, which you can find on the back of the Turas-Mara Single Malt Whisky. The special bottling will be dedicated to those who left the Isle of Jura and still carry the island in their hearts.
The complex production of the whisky is reflected in the aroma composition. Aged in Bourbon, Bordeaux and Ruby Port wine barrels, a complex drink awaits you, which attracts attention with strong fruity notes of berries and grapes. Cherries, blackcurrants, vanilla and caramel meet oak wood and result in a long-lasting and complex finish.
