Jane and Peter Clark moved from Boreham Wood England to New Zealand in 1979 and established their vineyard in the Awatere Valley in the south of the Marlborough wine region.
After growing for others they produced their first wine in 2006 and named it Boreham Wood because of their strong connections to the town.
Mr Clark said: “Borehamwood is Jane’s home town and we were married in All Saints Church. It was a military wedding with a guard of honour that brought Shenley Road to a standstill.
This pure and powerful wine has lifted passionfruit, grapefruit and gooseberry aromas. On the palate there is plenty of zest with herbaceous crushed herb and nettle flavours combining wonderfully with layers of fresh lime and stone fruits. This is a classic Upper Awatere wine with a chalky mineral character and racy acidity that helps give this wine extraordinary length and class.
